D&E Day 43

Snow day!

So, the weather report yesterday said we were going to get rain. When we woke up, at 5:30, this morning it was raining.

It was raining, but it was starting to change over.

Clearly, it’s not raining.

By this point, the forecast had been totally changed. Though, it wasn’t really a forecast at this point. It was more like the weatherman stuck his head out the windpw and said, “Hey! It’s snowing outside.” As a result, A didn’t have to go to work!

Surely you’re noticing a trend by now.

Anyway, E took his morning nap and then we all relocated upstairs where it was warm. Right now, it looks like E and A are having storytime.

They are reading, The Real Mother GooseSome of those nursery rhymes sound borderline inappropriate. Regardless, E seems to like them!

11:30

It’s still snowing at a good rate. You know who really likes the snow? This guy:

We’re all hungry, so I think we’re going to have lunch.

After lunch, E and A looked out the window and watched the snow come down.

E was so excited by the snow that we decided to bundle him up in his snow suit, that’s still too big for him, and take him outside.

He doesn’t look terribly excited. Excited or not, we pressed on!

In case you’re wondering what E is looking at with such interest, Rodie  had joined us outside.

Our trek into the winter wonderland that is our backyard must have been exhausting.

When E woke up from his snow day nap, it was time to eat. However, a small detour before lunch #2, it was tummy time. Tummy time wasn’t as bad today as it usually is. E did a really good job of getting his head up off of the floor and getting himself steadied.  This seemed to help keep him from getting too upset.

Now we just need to get him to roll over.

All in all, we hunkered down and didn’t do much of anything on our lazy snow day. It seems to me that rest of the day is going to be more of the same. This is where I’m going to leave you for tonight, but we’ll be back tomorrow. I can assure you that tomorrow is going to be a fun-filled, exciting, adventure of a day!

Tonight’s Bottle: Bell’s Black Note Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout

I’ve never had this one before, but here’s the description:

One of the most sought-after stouts in Bell’s history, Black Note Stout blends the complex aromatics of Expedition Stout with the velvety smooth texture of Double Cream Stout and ages the combination in freshly retired oak bourbon barrels for months. The resulting harmony of flavors captures the finest features of all three components: malty notes of dark chocolate, espresso & dried fruits, all buoyed by the warmth and fragrance of the bourbon barrel. Aimed squarely at the stout and bourbon aficionados, Black Note makes a grand statement about the art of the dark.

Doesn’t that sound good? I enjoy both the Expedition Stout and the Double Cream Stout, so I can only imagine that this will be good too. It sounds like the perfect pairing for a cold snowy day like this one!

A Final Thought: I really wasted the day. I kind of feel bad, but I kind of don’t. There are a bunch of things I could have worked on, or I could have read a book (I have 2 days left to read a book, I don’t see it happening). Instead, I decided to do a lot of nothing.

  1. A lot of nothing is good for the soul! And don’t worry about mg! Adults find it much more scary than children!
